HUNGDUAN




Hungduan is one of the municipalities in Ifugao.
"Hungdu" means to pass by or proceed. "Hungduan"is a place where one can pass by or proceed to another place.
Hungduan became the center of warfare at the last stage of the World War II, during the Japanese regime. The Japanese army, led by General Tomoyoki Yamashita went to Mt. Napulawan. The Americans with the Filipino army was forced to use bombs which lead to the destruction of the rice terraces. The population was around 14,000 inhabitants and decreased after the war to 3,340 because some died from hunger and diseases.
